My wife and have decided to purchase our first big boat. I really like grand banks as my first choice. I'm currently looking at a 46 foot Alaska yes it is a woody but that doesn't' bother me. My best friend has 30 years experience as a boatwight . my self I was a general contractor and mechanical /electrical contractor. I don't think I'm getting in over my head but hey ive been wrong before. Would appreciate any advice given. The boat is actually in very good shape hull was repainted last year as was the rest of the boat engines rebuilt only 800 hours generator has 200 hours. Upgraded electronics. My biggest concern is 100% fresh water. So do need to worry about rot? I know salt cures wood and if I buy this boat it will be brought to moss landing calf and slipped there. Thanks for your time.
