Looking at one in Mexico. Nice clean boat. My concern VT8-370's 800 hours. May get a few hrs out of them but parts are tough to find and for the counter rotating unit impossible.
    My thought is repower.
Interested in cost to repower with 3208T's, transmissions to I imagine.
Interested in thoughts on other engines as well.
Thinking of nursing the Cummins while shopping for a set of take outs.
It's in Mexico so mechanic time is very reasonable.

I've got a rebuilt short block with a new crankshaft. 0 hours on rebuild.

D thanks but it's a twin and was considering repower when it makes sense. Currently at 880 hrs SMOH. Out of curiosity what are you looking for the short block?

I haven't really thought about. It was a pair of running take-outs that we had rebuilt when we had a boatyard. It's been in the warehouse for 35 years. We put one of them in a trawler. I just mentioned it because i haven't seen a boat with a pair of those engines for years. They were good engines. As long as you keep the cooling system maintained they will run forever.

Why repower with another ancient engine? I'd be searching for a set of Cummins 6bta's to repower with or something newer such as 3126's or 3406's etc.....

My concern with the 6bta would be 370 HP out of a 360 CI block. Right or wrong over 1 HP per cubic inch concerns me with longevity.
and the 330 HP version seems underpowered for the vessel.
