Puerto Rico has claimed yet another significant vessel. Approx 100' .. She's being towed as we speak to a very small island beach on an island off Zoni Beach if she makes it there.

    Photos shortly.

The second photo shows her as she was going under but it looks like a heroic effort with crash pumps saved the day.

She's still out there today receiving assistance from a sportfish and a couple of harbor patrol boats. Front right side is underwater up to the interior helm windows but looks like they might have been able to keep the water out of the engine room.

Why can't they get it hauled, or the leak stopped with a diver?

I have been watching the action with binoculars. They are attaching huge float bags around either side of the bow (the foredeck is level with the waterline) ... the rear of the boat is up. They were probably able to close watertight doors and bilge pump out the water that had been in more of the boat. They will likely try to float it tomorrow. I might be able to get some closeup photos tomorrow as we are going on a fishing adventure.

Apparently, the 80' Nordfjord out of Ocean Reef, FL became disabled in St. Thomas ... I'm not sure how it came to be sinking at Culabrita. Maybe, temporary patch failed while towing? I just don't know. Anyways, they are hard at work salvaging the yacht.

Why on earth would you want to buy her? The cost of repairing that vessel would far exceed what it would be worth and who would buy it after disclosing the history.

As a project and for chartering its hull and superstructure are sound it will need a lot of work but if you replace everything and log it then on paper it would be like a brand new vessel but it would be something to keep in the family plus its a lot cheaper to buy a sunken boat and fix it up then to buy a used one of course it will take work but their are deals out their

That was the closest it went to going under but they were still pumping out the engine room in that picture they had both water tight doors shut and kept pumping water out
It never touched the bottom and all the running gear is like new
