Hi Here they have start to build electric boat! Look here! http://www.nimbus.se/documentLayout1.aspx?pageid=931
Electric Boats Nothing new, there are a few companies that produce electric boats that are capable of attaining higher than "Normal" speeds. I have a Duffy 22 that only runs about 6mph. Electric is great.
Lets see...cruise for less than an hour, then recharge for 4-5....hmmmmm, just how is that going to work for people?
We too used to use a Duffy in the bay as the Yacht Club runabout in Antigua, very quiet and smooth. It was great for dropping people off onto the commitee boat and such but trying to pick-up race marks was shear hell. We now have a big RIB, as you can pulse the power in and out as required with an outboard, electric motors cannot do this. Fish
well if they get more range then you cruise to work! Like Lars living in Vaxholm and if he have working place in Stockholm then he will get there faster and cheaper then his car!
Yes, but where do I find a 32 amp connection? (From what I heard on the radio, the boat is not on the market until 2011).
Hm cant you use charging stations for electric cars if exist on stradnvägen? They coming up here and there...........
There is a mooring at Strandvägen for yachts and the minimum fee for up to 24 hours with 32 A shore power is 140 USD. Then you can get almost to Vaxholm and back, which is about 10+10 Nm = 7 Dollar/Nm... Here is a PDF from The Ports of Stockholm, where you can also see "my old yacht", a Moonen 85 moored. http://www.stockholmshamn.se/intran...gen.pdf/$FILE/Fakta_yacht_eng_Strandvagen.pdf
