Hi All, I am having a hard time understanding the sea time requirements for a USCG Near Coastal Masters License. I currently have a USCG Master 100 ton inland license, USCG Mate 100 ton near coastal license with sail and towing endorsements. STCW 95 BST, Basic and Advanced Fire Fighting and Radar Observer Unlimited certificates. I am getting close to 720 days of sea time and want to start planning for my next license. Could someone walk me through the sea time requirements for a Master Near Coastal License? In Total I have 402 days of Inland sea time, 28 days of Great Lakes sea time, and 255 days of Ocean sea time. In the last 3 years (2007-2009) I have 142 days of Inland sea time, 28 days of Great Lakes sea time, and 27 days of Ocean sea time. Do I need 360 days total Ocean sea time? Am I OK on regency? How do I figure out if I can get a 150 or 200 ton license? I have a USCG Mate 100 ton near coastal license. What else can I get? Thanks everyone for you help. Charles
Yes I agree, give them a call. You're going to need a certain amount of ocean tonnage over a certain amount of gross tons to upgrade. I would try to get a 200 ton if possible as a 150 ton does not give you much advantage over a 100 ton. How do you hold both an inland and a near coastal? I was under the impression it was one or the other?
