American built FBMY w/crew qtrs under 65'

    Does anyone know of an american built, flybridge motor yacht with separate crew quarters, 65' or less, 2002 model or newer. So far I've only found Pacific Mariner 65, Marquis M/Y 59 & 65 and Hatteras M/Y 63 & 64. Anything else out there?

    I would go with the Hatteras 63'.

    We’ve done reviews on each of the manufacturers on your list. I’ve been aboard all of the boats below and sea trialed two of them. In most cases, the crew quarters should be coined ‘kids quarters’ on boats in this size range. Truth is, you don’t need a crew on boats this size. You need a place where you can’t hear the kids. ;)

    Lay-outs are subjective. I like an open deck plan. Based on that criterion, Marquis gets the nod. I also like their ergonomics. The interior materials and workmanship are on a level with custom yachts. Marquis uses a cored bottom, much like the rest of the industry for weight savings, performance and economy. If this falls into your con category, then take a look at Hatteras.

    I haven’t been aboard the PM-65, but we did a feature on the 85’ a few years ago and an updated 85’ just splashed. A review is forthcoming. PacMan has a good rep. Aesthetically, they’re a little vanilla, but the interiors are defacto PacNW… and the W stands for Workmanship.

    I would place Hatteras last on your list, but in sportfish yachts, they top my list. You get a solid bottom from a solid company, but the ergonomics, layout and interior of the 64’ aren’t your father’s Hatteras.

    I also was impressed with the PM-65. A surprise to me as I agree with you about the vanilla thing.

    The Hatteras 63 started out #1 on my list. Added the 64 to have more to choose from. I know more about Hatts and less about the Marquis line. Thought they were more of a lake boat. I'll have to give tham a better look based on your comments.

    I know the criterion limits my options. Still hoped there were a couple of other models out there.

    The four-stateroom Lazzara 68, if you don't include all that rear bustle/swim platform/dink garage, is 65-ish.

    Hatteras 67' CPMY. It is a sturdy, well built MY from the late 80's/early 90's. There is a pristine example which is for sale in Marathon, FL for like 700k. The marina that it called home last time I checked was Turn Key Marine, which was recently engulfed in flames, causing 2 million + in damage. I don't know if the Hatt was a victim.

    While it is not American built, but it is North American built. I would check out a Neptunus. They have a very nice fit, finish, ride, are well built, and I think they have one in the 60 something foot range with crew quarters. I hear Lazzara is coming out with a new 68' with more traditional styling like their older ones also.
