Just spoke with a crewmember and apparently it if the chimney from the fireplace! Considering it is a brand new boat, it seems kind of a rough and ready way of doing it. I wonder how long the fibreglass dome and paint will last with the heat.
It's probably a gas fireplace and the exhaust temp from those is pretty low, but they do produce a fair amount of condensation. Thanks for posting this interesting piece of information.
Weird and wonderful Sat-domes Another addition is the second funnel on 'Talitha G'. Not only was it a fake construction for communication but also Sat-TV so that Mr. Getty could watch his beloved Cricket matches. I belive it was Bannenberg who first started hiding the Sat domes as part of the design (may it continue), having had to modify a 65m yacht by adding 4 foot poles to the domes to make them work and thus rendering the boat very ugly
I think Tucker is refering to smaller sailboats where the (in olden days when the term 'Charlie Noble' was more in fashion) wood/coal-burning stove provided a cook-top as well as heating source for the main cabin. See "Boy, Me and the Cat: Voyage of the Mascot 1912-1913".
Right Loren, "Charlie Noble" is a galley smokestack, but in 2008 it is hard to find a smokestack, so maybe we can still get new deckhands to go find "Charlie Noble!!"
