    I agree... it could easily pass for a surfaced u-boat.

    I'm going to have to read through that globalsecurity page later this evening.

    I'm not a warship guy but...while you're reading that take a look at this;

    Bath Iron Works will be building two of these ships.
    Maybe if the owners of Sigma get tired of her, they can paint her grey and offer her as an ultra comfy version of these warships!
    No offence to the owners of Sigma if your reading this...just having some fun.

    Sigma´s propulsion

    Does anyone have an idea what kind of propulsion package Sigma (SF99) has? Probably CODAG?
    I am truly not sure, but I think I red somewhere a few months ago, it has two MTU 16V 1163 TB93 diesels, each 5.920 kW and one LM2500 gas turbine with 25.060 kw. It means 36.900 kW (50.184 mHP) all together..

    Best regards to all members

    The entire stern seems to be for tenders. 3 hatches each on port and starboard, the aft one HUGE, and the stern seems to open too. I wonder whats in there... probably the usual, submarines, chopters, missle launchers.

    To my eye they appear to have a metallic finish.

    Perhaps the grey was a protective coating?

    Makes me wonder:rolleyes: Although Sigma looks very milituristic I'm led to think about the difference in the look of Preditor when she went with the blue. :rolleyes: :cool:

    Your thought is very plausible PFJW. It looks so much better than that muted appearance and goes nicely with the chrome uptakes.
  16. It is not a refit..Some paintwork was left for after sea-trials!

    Other than painting the funnels silver, what did they do?
    BTW, Those gantry cranes in the background look as if they could pick Sigma up like a toy! They are seriously BIG!
