    In maintaining an eye on the fuel cell industry, because I'm not only vested in this market, but have been involved in fuel cell development over the years, I came across a PDF webpage that our viewers might find interesting.     46 m Vintage Electric...

    I don´t know when you will be able to rely on fuel cells as your only energy source, but at least in a combination with diesel generators you can run big yachts on the electric pods. I made a design on a vintage style yacht some years ago suited for this type of silent propulsion. :)

    I think Fuel cell powered boats/ships are a long way off yet, as builders and owners tend to be quite cautious , about embracing new ideas, incase that they are unreliable or unproved....

    I think that, the diesel/electric proplusion system will start to make an apperance in trawler yachts in the 20-40m size range, in the coming years, as we rely more and more on generators and shore power, as secondard power sources, in boats, and they are getting bigger all the time...... the next logical step, it to run 100% electricity......

    Is there much of a loss , using diesel/electric, than traditional diesel ????

    this is a fabulous topic thread !!! ... we all need to be aware to advance the push to have 'environmentally friendly' vessels of any sort.
