Some pictures I took this week while cruising around. 1) 49m Oceanos by Mondo 2) Again 3) Oceanos at sea 4) Another large yacht I spotted 5) Unknown yacht
An unfortunate accident happend in the marina last week. A 100ft Hatteras hit a 39ft Azimut. The accident was due to an electrical/electronic fault on the Hatteras. The Hatteras was maneuvering to go along side the fuel dock in the marina when suddenly her three engines rev'ed up and the engine control levers did not respond and lost control over the engines which lead to hitting the stationary 39ft Azimut. The Hatteras was not even scratched, the Azimut ruined. Pictures of the Hatteras and the Azimut:
I guess the fenders on the Azimut didn't work. Ouch, that was some hit. BTW, the Red Sea isn't really red?
.......you probably know already.......it's called the Red Sea because the sea's surrounding mountains are of red granite.
TK, I knew that, but it was my feable attempt at some Saturday morning humor. I'll stick to taking pictures.
I was the captain on that hatteras several years ago, based in the same marina , and handed over to the recent captain. She has "Sturdy" brand engine controls, just wondering why they failed.
That's right; my name is Hasan. Most of the turkish community there and some others, like aussie Brechin Ainsworth, will remember me pretty well. I still miss the easy-going life of El Gouna sometimes!
Yes, I know Brechin. He's the Captain on M.Y. LOCEAN, the 82' Predator. Indeed, El Gouna is very nice and comfortable.
