We are interested in purchasing a cruise yacht (meridian 590), but I want to go to places like Hawaii and maybe the med. it the future. Is it possible to do all that on this yacht.?????? any advices to the newbie
I think you should build up your experience level before thinking about crossing any open ocean. The Gulf Islands are one of the best cruising grounds around so you can have lots of great cruising while building up your experience. A Meridian 590 would be a fine boat for the Gulf Islands and Inside Passage. There is so much to do from Seattle to Alaska that it will keep you occupied for many, many years. Try going on the west side of Vancouver Island in the fall (or even winter) and you might be dissauded from an ocean crossing!
If you want to do a crossing with that yacht, you better call dockwise or sevenstar. They will safely deliver it.
I have yet to see the first Kingship. Their claim to build budget Dutch quality yachts seems more likes a hoaks to me. Given the fact that the average chinese worker earns about $200 a month, the savings in labourcosts should be huge. Dutch design and engeneering doesn't make them dutch yachts. Just like a Ralph Lauren Polo isn't american, but usually from Bangladesh.
Many yacht brands with American sounding names are actually built in Asia. This is to save on building costs, as the other post noted. Here is another thread that may help - http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/general-yachting-discussion/2644-hello.html Kelly
The price difference with a genuine dutch build is minimum. There's a 2006 steel Kingship 110 expedition on sale for €11mln euros. It can be build for a comparable price in Holland. To get back to the thread. You said you were looking for a meridian 590? Kingships start at 89 ft. That's quite a bit larger than what you are looking for. I'm not sure if they have built anything around 60 ft.
