If you want to eat well and party, St. Trop's the place, but my favorite place is Portofino. Portofino is absolutely stunning and much more laid back than the the other areas you mentioned. Getting a berth for anything over 70' may be a problem, so call well in advance (it may already be too late). There is good, but limited anchorage in the entrance to the harbor and plenty down toward Santa Margherita. Try to avoid cruise ship arrivals. If you are into diving or snorkleing, there are good areas (with varying ecological restrictions) back toward Genova. Your best bet for setting up an on-shore command post is the Jolly Bar where Franco will take good care of you; he serves up some pretty good mojitos for this part of the world.
By the way, I would give Genova a miss unless you need any fuel or service for the boat.

What kind and size of yacht do you run? What is the age and interests of the owners? Personally I would avoid all the places you read about in charter brochures, but some people love them, and other loves to be seen there...

About restaurants, in France the best are rarely at the waterfront. In Italy, even the "bad" are usually good! Since you will visit popular ports, you can ask the crew on other yachts about the best restaurants and clubs.

If you have young people onboard then Cannes and St Tropez is the place to be with all the clubs and restaurants. Capri is a must beautiful Island and a very nice old town on top of the mountain. Good luck with Porto Fino, for the last 5 years i have not been able to get in there. Santa Magaritha is not a bad place to be very busy and a very nice town. Lots of restaurants and beautiful women. Don’t forget about Monaco it is also a good place for clubs and restaurants. St Tropez will be still very busy in July you will be lucky to get a spot July or August because that is when nearly the whole Europe takes their summer holidays.
There is a spot called Pampalona Beach around the corner from St Tropez were there are a lot of restaurants on the beach. I think that is the spot that P-Diddy loves to go to and drink Cristal Champagne, there is one place where there are some naked women that pores champagne over her beautiful naked body and you can drink from the fountain. I have met several people that have been fortunate to experience that event as I had to stay on the boat.
For a nice relaxing evening Positana is a must. No moorings available will have to drop your anchor. Then there is Ischia. Have a look at the following website. There are 2 marinas, Port de Ischia and Heavens Quay. http://www.yachting.it/en/hq.asp?cat=2&scat=18?cat=2&scat=18.
Then you have Sardinia. Porto Cervo or Porto Rotondo. Good night life and a lot of restaurants. I prefer Porto Rotondo. Most boats go and anchor in Cala De Volpe.
I always use agents in France and Italy to organize the moorings for me. You have a better chance of getting a mooring if you use them, but it is also convenient if you need special services. They can give you the best advice on restaurants etc. If you want the contact number of the people I used please let me know. There is on company that I will avoid using in Italy as there prices are over the top and the service is not that good.
