We are looking at trading up to the new volvo ips with the joystick on the carver 38, does anyone ave any experiences (good or bad) with the boat and or IPS. We realize the joystick is brand new but looks pretty incredible?

    Hi Greg,

We just recently purchased the 42ss with IPS and joystick. It really is revolutionary. She moves out and handles like a small express and docking is quite literally child's play. If you can afford the upgrade I highly recommend it.

We have just received our first IPS boat...it just snowed about 18 inches, so it's not in the water yet...I will repost after I have had the chance to opperate it

We launched it...what a great handling and running boat. Whisper quiet and so easy to get around (for us mechanics). Be VERY aware of things floating at or near the surface...when I took it out onto the lake, I hit a submerged log...banged up all four props and bent the two shafts on the stbd drive. Volvo doesn't have parts or special tools in this country yet, so we got a whole new drive...I hope NO ONE ever hits one bad enough to have it fall off...not bad to replace, time wise, but WOW are they expensive!
