The St. Barths sailing bucket has concluded recently as the begining of this month. It was held from the 29th of March to April 1st. It attracted some big names in the luxury sail market. Perini Navi, Royal Huisman and Alloy all had representation there. Haven't any pics on here as yet that i have seen so if you were interested you can visit the St. Barths bucket regatta website at: http://www.stbarthsbucket.com/StBarthsPhotos.htm I believe that these were 2006 photos though.. Beautiful sailing, alongside and night shots of the many sail yachts. But for race results and awards and so on... http://www.stbarthsbucket.com/StBarthsFleetUpdates.htm
The 2009 edition of the St. Barths Bucket just finished a few days ago and the "Meteor" is the overall winner! Meteor is a 51-meter modern- old-world styled schooner built by Royal Huisman. "Windcrest" came second and "Adela" came third overall. Grande Dames des Mers: (Cruising Division) 1: METEOR, 51m Huisman 2: MALTESE FALCON - 88m Perini Navi 3: WINDCREST, 30m Hodgdon Yacht Gazelle De Mer: (Racing Division) 1: GANESHA - 39m Dubois Performance Sloop 2. P2 - 38m Perini Navi/Briande Performance sloop 3. DESTINATION FOX HARB'R - 41m Dubois Performance Sloop by Alloy Yachts Of course a number of other awards were given but those where some of the main races. Information from Maltese Falcon's website.
I was fortunate enough to be part of the St Bart Raggetta race. Here is a pic of Meteor passing us by! A few other cool pics as well...
naa its windcrest, i searched for it and the foremast couldn't be maltese falcon ;D and as there's a pic of meteor from the ship shot, i only could be windcrest [edit] did some more research, that foremast can't be windcrest, its ganesha so the X means yes
Bow rails and foredeck scream Destination Fox Harb'r to me, though it surely could also be Ganesha...
I was certain the vessel was Ganesha because of the bow rails and foredeck arrangement. Also, the Genoa and stay furlers were clues and the crew in red shirts. I have seen Ganesha's crew wearing red tops before so I assumed it was her based on those clues. When I saw the "X" I thought it mean that I was wrong. Maybe it meant X marks the spot
LOL, now I am getting confused. Brunick, X in the Square as in to make the international signal flags "Victor"? (I need Assistance) or "Mike" (I am slowing down or stopped?)
Anyways, away from this codification and back to the original essense of the thread. I saw tonite that CNN will be showing their program 'Main Sail' at 1:30pm Miami on Thursday coming. Views of the Wally "Saudade", some Perinis etc. from the St. Barths bucket, which one I am not sure. Also from Volvo Ocean racing.
2012 Bucket This year's Bucket regatta starts tomorrow. It was kicked off today with a J Boat exhibition, featuring the most Js to race together in 100 years! What a thrill it was to see Endeavor, Ranger, Valsheda, and Hanuman duke it out in an average of 18kts over a 25 mile course. Here is a photo of the start, and another of one of the spectator fleet, which I thought was appropriate given the resurrection of the Sycara review.
