Hello all, It’s been a while since I used a forum, but as this is an older boat, I figured it would be good to record some of this project! I have just purchased a 1999 320 open, as a project! No real history, other than it has 2 rebuilt yanmar engines, replaced props / shafts and rebuilt ZF gearboxes. the rest….. well. This is a European based project, so access to some parts / resources is a little more limited. The plan; - fibreglass, complete repair / fair and paint of top and bottom ( she is in relatively sound condition), but I want a great base to work from. some may notice the missing helm, previous owner started to relocate to the side, I’m ok with this, if we can make it work, as I really like the large cockpit area it creates, evening meals with a fold out table? The rear deck was removed to fit a new fuel tank, then replaced, we will cut out and re fit, as it’s not in the greatest condition. - electrics. Ground up rewire, built around a house battery / invertor system, not a generator. This has worked for us and our use previously, I like the quiet! It has some fancy Raymarine 3d transducers, I have sourced an axiom 12” screen, so a basic glass helm will be the plan, connecting the tank as sensors to Nmea2000, with some hidden backup analogue gauges. - controls, currently there are none! So this will be an area of slight uncertainty, but I know I want it simple, Reliable and mechanical. A simple autopilot for heading / course. - interior, a full re upholster and a rethink of current storage. Planning on atleast 2 phases. Phase 1, allowing us to use it for a short season, so we can see what works, what we like and what we would change. This would lead us into winter and phase 2, the refining. Some images.. I am clearly no Expert, I will be utilising the proper help where required! Hopefully this serves use to some and a good reference for myself to look back on! thanks. Al
Thank you for the welcome! It doesn’t feel brave just now, so we know what that means….. We looked at newer boats, but this allows us to build a boat the way we would like, to our standard. my wife did not refer to me as brave work has begun!
