I was just categorizing some of my Firefox bookmarks (I.E. Favorites) and I thought a thread on favorite websites would be a good way to kick off 2007. We all know, or we have, our favorite yachting websites. But… what about off-topic sites? I’ve got a number of websites, unrelated to yachting, that I occasionally visit. I consider some of these sites among the best in their respective sectors. If you know of some outstanding sites, i.e., good resources, top tier sites… list them below for others to benefit from in 2007. Here’s a few of my favorites to get things started... Business & Technology News… http://www.businessweek.com http://www.cnet.com Real Estate & Research… http://www.elandusa.com http://www.city-data.com http://www.loopnet.com Auto Sites… http://www.worldcarfans.com http://www.autoweek.com Aviation… http://www.barnstormers.com http://www.landings.com http://www.eaa.org
Some of my favorite websites: Mac: Macworld MacFreak (Dutch) Joy of Tech Apple (Dutch) Cars: Autoweek (Dutch) Carwalls Toys: HPI-racing Toms' modelcars (Dutch) Artists: Frank Versteegh ...and a lot of news websites but with them i can fill this hole page...

For something different my favorite off topic websites are www.wingmakers.com ***Admin Edit: Lyricus has been removed. This site contains a browser hijack.***
Speaking of photography - www.istockphoto.com That site also has a lot of graphic art and elements for website design. Kelly
favorite websites My favorites seem more like refresher courses or show my practical, nonartsy side: http://www.xe.com/ucc/ - currency converter http://www.bestfish.com/convert.html - conversions and formulas particularly geared for fishtanks http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page - check other wiki links at bottom http://www.archive.org/web/web.php - inactive websites http://www.switchboard.com/ - yellow/white pages http://urbanlegends.about.com/ - to debunk most of the email hoaxes sent by helpful but uninformed friends I'll spare you my favorite hurricane sites until summer. Judy
www.snopes.com is another good one for just that purpose. I have an over-reactive grandmother who forwards every "omg there's a computer virus, health warning, CDC, gang murder, lost child, terrorist plot, etc." email she gets and I spend a good deal of time looking them up and writing back to her.
Since everyone reading this is using a computer, sure seems like there should be more favorites listed. I just discovered a site that has marine acronyms. Does anyone have one that is more expansive? http://www.loadrite.com/Support/The_RITE_Choice_Lasts_Longer/Marine_Industry_Acronyms/74/ Judy
www.google.com (the most importants website ) http://www.psd-tutorials.net (Photoshop community - English and German) www.crystalxp.net (nice windows skins) http://www.selfhtml.org/#en (HTML - English is in work) http://www.airliners.net www.youtube.com ... and my other favourites has been already named
My favorite.... Yachtforums.com - www.yachtforums.com Do I win a Prize Carl? I know you said Yachting Un-related but this is really the only site I have been visiting lately.
Glad to see more favorites - thanks! Guess I don't follow directions well - sorta skipped over the "off topic" - oh well, a one track mind I suppose. Judy

It has been said that the primary reason for folks heading out to the NASCAR races is the delicious anticipation of a massive wreck at speed, hopefully accompanied by a huge fireball or two, and, well, you get the picture. While most yachties would consider this type of entertainment to be extremely low-brow, there is a special place for--not you, of course--the baser types among us who enjoy this sort of thing. http://www.cargolaw.com/2006nightmare_mv.alvastar.html The commentary alone--from a lawyer, no less-- is worth the price of admission.
I typed in YachtForums and she said "it was a very good choice". I like this girl! Do a search for Google and watch her response. Hilarious! Have we just seen the future of search engines?
