I'm looking at purchasing a 44 Post was wondering if anyone had any info on them at all. Ive been looking for months at different boats and this one seems like a solid boat for a decent price, it's on boat trader if anyone wants to look into it more 1990 44 Post 129,000 is asking price. Rebuilt 671's, new threw hulls, packing glands, cutlass bearings. Seems like a clean good boat. It will be my first sportfish so any and all info is welcome

The Post 44 is the same hull, cockpit and bridge layout as our 43-II Post. The difference is the 44 has two heads, our 43-II has one. Ours has been repowered with CAT C7.1's by the prior owner. Feel free to DM me if have questions.

Nice looking. It won't cruise 27 kts. The 27 kts cruise is what Post quoted for 6V92 550HP boats. Bridge clearance with the hardtop is closer to 20 ft to radar if it impacts you. Looks a lot like ours, the salon on the 2-head is much smaller. Ours had a way too big refigerator when we got it too.

List is around the same as when we were looking a few years ago for DD powered boats. If you know a good 6-71 mechanic in your area could be a very nice boat.

    I see 6-71 TIBs.
I luv these engines if properly maintained.
Emergency shutdown flappers are not connected to a remote cable. Lots of spray paint (****** work) preformed.
Find the best Detroit tech in the area and survey them well. 200 hours in 5 years don't mean anything to me.
Any oil lab history? <-- important...
Water and AC condensing stations look weathered.
Gen-set looks good but you know to de-value the oh-no automatically.
    I do luv the boat.:)

J&T, Covington, S&S, DDC, and others ordered the 6-71TIB from DDC.
    Base 6-71TIB = In-line 6-71, Turbo, Intercooled, Bypass blower.
Past the original Detroit 6-71TIB build, Other marinizers would install larger turbos and larger injectors.
Yours is one of the survivors (J&T or Convingtons).
Penski stopped covering warranty past the factory spec and lots of monster builds came to an end.
IMO, the in-line 6-71 had more to offer but the whole 2-stroke lines started coming to an end after DDec and the Series50/60, Then Penski sold out.

Find a read DDC shop and offer the block serial numbers. They can tell you who ordered the engine and original factory tune.
Then tap on who DDC told you who purchased the engine and get the upgrade history and final tune from them.

Tap on us if you have any issues following this path.

Nice looking boat but second what Capt. Ralph said about finding a good Detroit guy for the survey.
TIB motors are squeezing max HP out of those 6-71's and time between rebuilds can be short.
