    Hi,
Is there a published chart that tells exactly what engines have fresh water cooled aftercoolers AND salt water cooled aftercoolers.

for example 3412C and 3412E are both fresh or engine coolant cooled. The "C" 30 is salt. That would lend one to believe all "E" engines are engine coolant cooled. I dont think that is true.

In looking at several boats I believe the 3406E is salt, and the 3196E / and of course the C12 are also.

Is there any common verification method?

    Thanks B Dowd

The only thing I can find online shows a 3406E with a SW Cooled charger air cooler, the early C18'S shared this setup only going to coolant cooled in around 2016/7. I much preferred the SW cooled ones with the Plate coolers. They allow for a wider range of variables in way of temps and water flows

Thank you. I was more concerned with the short life expected (6 year replacement recommended by CAT) for most SWAC coolers. Yes the SWAC coolers run higher horsepower, but coolant cooled units just need regular maintenance, not replacement. Also I checked with MTU (Detroit series 60) recommended replacement at 4000 hours. (no time limit).

The number of engines made as time goes on that use coolant cooled aftercoolers is fading away
