Hello everyone, I'm new and this one caught my eye. When you say yet another classic yacht what do you mean? Has there been a trend in classic designs lately? Where can I see more classicly influenced yachts?

Hi Richard and welcome to the YachtForums!

There has always been classic designs built, so I wouldn´t call it a trend. Most are contemporary classics, from Burger and Moonen to name a couple of yards. What has been a trend perhaps, is to restore and convert older vessels to superyacht standard and a new life.

Thank you for welcoming me and for answering my questions.

I have only just gotten interested in yachts but I have been a big ocean liner buff for years. It fascinates me to see what new things can be done with the same type of hull used 80+ years ago.

Are there any other "classic-modern" yachts out there that I can check out? So far the modern built ones I have seen are the Bystander, Nero and Sycara. I have also seen one built by Azzura called their "Classic 100" its an interesting yacht but I am now on the lookout to see all that I can of this type.

There are quite a few new yachts built to resemble old, especially sailing yachts. Two of the larger are Athena and Eos. You can use the search tool on this Forum or Google to find out more.

This being one of my favorite yachts, I need to know, who or what does she "escort" exactly?

As mentioned in the beginning of this thread, Bystander is built to escort the sailing yacht on the picture, the famous J-class Velsheda.

I didn't know that the "new" Bystander was still performing escort duties to Velsheda and was built as a replacement for that duty.
