New crate V8 Yanmar installed 1/2022. Combination of inactive and lightly used since then, 84 hours. Recent oil sample showed all levels normal except silicone. Is that normal due to the break-in period, new seals and gaskets?

Silicone (silicon dioxide) in your oil comes from 2 common sources.
Leaching from gaskets, sealants and fittings like you mentioned,
from the castings and machining of the engine parts also
Or micro dust in the oil (silica).

May I recommend checking the cleanliness of the engine's environment, checking the engine's air filter and spot checking the oil in a few hours.
Not much else to do other than run the engine a lil more often.

Silicone is nothing I would worry about. IF you're just changing the oil now, after 2.5 years, it's probably leeched from gaskets or even the o-ring on the oil filter. Oil should be changed annually regardless of hours. Motor should also be run to temp every 2-4 weeks at a minimum.

In my world maintenance is if it brakes, I'll fix it. Otherwise run it till it stops (which explains needing a repower after 350 hours)
    Thanks for the silicone points

I had silicone in every Yanmar oil sample I did, the engine ran fine and every other parameter was perfect.
Changed oil and filter every 125 hours as per the manual. Good engine, in fact I almost loved it..
(So did Mama because it started every time, even in remote anchorages and sometimes in bad weather, single engine boat)
I often regret selling that boat, but different chapter now.
