You can put whatever camera system you want, it will not make a difference if the crew isn’t paying attention (utopia) or isn’t reacting in time (lady M)

UFO collision avoidance using various sensors has been tested on Imocas in the last Vendée Globe with limited success. Maybe this year advances in software will help

Just interested to learn of new technology that you mentioned that I didn't know existed (maritime collision avoidance system) Seems like there really isn't any collision avoidance syst. at this juncture and thermal cameras are only as good as the mariner who is monitoring them. Sounds like the only integrated collision avoidance syst. is a well-trained mariner on bridge watch.

    Hi.
As I said, I'm just a yacht enthusiast, I don't work for the industry and I'm not a tech girl.
They have just shown me these cameras on the mast and the screen on the bridge. Basically, the cameras scan the sea and detect any kind of floating thing. Then an AI classify the objects: buoys, person swimming, inflatables, yachts etc and marks them on the screen with different colours, indicating the distance and direction. If the AI predicts a potential collision, it activates sound and visual alarms.

Anyway, this morning I had a chat with a friend of mine who works in the industry and he told me that there are dozens of collision avoidance systems already in operation on commercial ships, sailboats and even yachts, saying they are totally reliable in any condition, both day and night as well as at anchor and while sailing.

He gave me some names: SEA.AI Sentry and SEA.AI Exos 2024, Oscar by BSB Group (he gave me other names but I don't remember everything he said) and told me that Ferretti has already adopted a system that intervenes autonomously even if in a limited way. It is called "Watchit". That was easy to remember.
Anyway, he added that some of the systems available on the market can even autonomously and safely reroute and/or modify speed...that's scary to me...I think AI is surely A but not so I, yet.

I say it again...I'm not an expert, I just like yachts and I was lucky to get on board some big ones that have one of these new systems.
One of them was recently refitted and upgraded and the owner went for these kinds of things.

Sorry for any mistakes I may have made...we can take may away :):(
