    Anyone with a DD powered 43 able to give a guess what this added piece of wood on the bulkhead over the port side transmission might have been for?

    Look for screw holes across from it. I would say some kind of a cross beam cleat.
    Rite over the shaft??

    Nothing similar forward, and nothing on stbd side. I'm thinking it was something to either remove the old DD or install the new CAT's or both. The engines came in the salon door which is stbd of center, so this could be something to deal with positioning the port motor/trans. It's not doing anything and not in the way but is ugly and anoying.

    If it was centered over the shaft, I was thinking coupler support while aligning.
    Yep, get that ugly lumber out of there.

    Both shafts were pulled, trued, couplers re-machined (one had loosened) and new dripless seals installed as part of work between sea trial and delivery to us.

    Board was there much earlier.

    I did something similar many moons ago on a Chris, suspending the TD514 shaft coupler (heavy beast).
    Installed overhead for/aft so I had room to reach in from the side.

    A few years ago, a bud installed hangars like that for a micro traveler, two rails, beam to beam.
    Suspended his old and new exhaust manifolds over the engines, to center line to R&R thru his saloon.
    Swamp logic does pretty good still these days.
