I'm getting plans ready to install Starlink on our 43 when it comes home from winter storage. Looking at the hardtop where I can see from inside the electronics box it looks like the outer skin has a wood core/backup, the inner skin is just a couple layers of fiberglass. There also looks to be, at least in some areas, an open space between the two. Would anyone happen to know about how thick the outer skin and core is? It looks like some things (hailer, lights, old TV antenna base, old center rigger base) are just screwed to the outer skin/core as they are not seen form the underside. Others (radar and all the interior and exterior hand-hold rails) are through bolted.

I'm trying to prepare for if I should plan through bolting the Starlink antenna, or just screw it to the outer skin/core like some of the existing parts.

I can somewhat see the gap and upper core in the wire pass for the radar shown.

    Thanks - Greg

Which antenna are you using? The flat HP, the older v2 aka RV or new v3

the HP is a bit heavy and may need to be thru bolted. The v2 is lighter but on a pole so there is a bit of leverage. The new v3 is much lighter and not on a pole so screws should be fine.

I will be using a V3 on the Trio flatmount. Interested in skin/core thickness so I can have correct length fasteners already on hand. I want to only have to get up on the top once if I can. I have a nice integrated mount for the router and power supply that will be mounted in the console cabinet (along with the sounder and Garmin hub already there).
