What have owners of pre-2022 Offshore 54’s experienced for actual speeds? Much of our cruising will be at 10-12 knots, but design / brochures say it will do 16 knot cruise and 23 max with full water and fuel. Is that accurate?

We just bought a 2000 Offshore 54 with C-12s. It was able to exceed 20 knots during the seatrial. I'm not sure about 23 knots with full water and fuel, but it will get close. We usually cruise between 9-10 knots to keep fuel consumption reasonable, but the boat is very comfortable doing 10-12 and will certainly do 16 knots.

No experience with this specific boat but many boats can not stay on plane at 16kts and/or it will take very little to make them fall off incl head wind, sea state or load

also, cruising at 10 to 12kts with a boat size makes little sense. At 12 kts you ll push a huge wave and burn almost as much as you would fully on plane

I delivered a early 54' with 3196TA's, 660 hp. 1900/1950 cruise 15-16 knots. 2300 19-20 knots. Fuel tanks were mid-ship as I recall and if so, should not change performance.

Wow. That is real slow. I can cruise my 53 Hatteras ( hardly a light boat) at 17kts with twin 435hp Cummins.

Removing heavy 8V71's and installing much lighter Cummins 6 cyl helps your speed I would think.

It helped a little but still you d think that with an extra 200+hp there would be a significant speed difference.
And again a 1970 hull shape is hardly efficient!
