Beware of a tug’s prop wash!

    Found this online this morning: boat hitting bridge fenders.

    This the north side of the Port of Miami bridge and the video looks like it was shot from a Virgin Cruise ship since that’s where their terminal is. In the lower left corner you can see the tug’s propwash which pushed the bow of the MY into the bridge fenders.

    Some of those Rossi Navis have had some terrible luck with collisions.

    Raised on the St Johns river, the channel passes close to the many ship terminal ports all thru Jax. The smart operator knows to stay well clear when tugs are working near the ships.
    At night, extra attention is required to watch for tug operations.

    I can only assume the operator here did not see the tug, what it was doing or its prop wash.
    An expensive lesson.
    Different crew, same issues; Poor watch keeping.

    For good reason, they have THE worst program in the mega yacht industry. Crew NEVER gets a day off, owner calls within hours notice to use the boat at all hours of the day or night, crew constantly quits and is always new.

    Also keep in mind last night, wind was gusting to 30 knots and look at the time, 3am.

    Looks like they were heading back to the marina on Watson but changed their plans because of the wind and returned to where they were anchored. It’s been 30kts sustained for the last 2 days
