New Cat 42 with cats

    We just took delivery of our 426 with Cat 3208ta. I was thrilled with the fuel burn on our 75 mile 2 day trip home. We only burned 50 gallons in two days. We cruised an average of 7.5 knots also running the generator for 30 hours. We had no issues at all and it was awesome sleeping in air conditioning at anchor. So anyone wondering about fuel consumption on a boat with the 3208’s. If you run them slow you can go a long way..

    Congrats! The 3208ta is a good motor as long as the hp is kept reasonable. I had a pair of the 320hp versions in a Sea Ray Sportfish and they served me well. Mine were very picky on wanting clean air filters. If my filters got at all dirty I would see hazy smoke and knew they needed to be changed.

    Good to know, so far no smoke at start up and none while running. Very happy with them so far. I will be replacing the air filters and raw water pumps soon.

    Mine are 375’s I run them nice and slow, start right up and no smoke! They should outlast me! Clean fuel and oil

    The 375's are pushing max hp you can make with still maintaining some reliability. They pushed them to 425 and they were grenades. Highly recommend you ensure you are not over propped on those 375's.
