    I believe, she sold last year as NIKITA under a lease model via the AMI Kids yacht donation scheme, after some years of back and forth on the open market.

    YF is the Go-To place for everything yachts! Thanks, Carl! I knew she must have had sailboat in her history somewhere and Chuck Paine is the answer. Well, Southern Ocean too. No wonder she's such a beauty. Sorry if I splattered drool on the post.

    Thanks, lobo! I showed Nikita to a client and we made an offer on her about 2 years ago. She was docked stern to so I didn't see her beautiful profile and subsequently didn't recognize her photo.

    Nice lines. The first thing I noticed was the apron around the flybridge for access without a ladder. Seldom see that design feature anymore.

    Yes, that also looks like a proper vessel, which I wouldn't mind owning! :)
    BUT, the 66 above seems even better to me, in more ways than one:
    - more elegant gunwale split on two levels, raised from midship forward;
    - much nicer side windows shapes in the p/house
    - sleeker stern design;
    - proper mast (vs. aerials stuck on the hardtop in the 72);
    - dolphin striker with better anchors arrangement;
    - not 100% sure from the pic, but the side door looks sliding, as opposed to the 72 one, which is definitely hinged (and on the wrong side!);
    - more convenient position of the f/b crane while at rest.

    Aha! definitely sliding side doors in Nikita, based on what can be seen in the video.
    And beautiful interior too, BTW.

    Paine seems to have designed a 62 a 66 and a 74 all with the same general design and designated Diverse Projects in New Zealand and Kanter Yachts in Canada as the 'designated builders' (whatever that means.) Welded aluminum with heavy bows. Kanter built a 62 and a 74 while Diverse built the 66 you're drooling over. Both yards are still operating and Kanter continues to offer the 62, 66 (as a 68) and the 74. Diverse doesn't advertise them but could probably build one. The originals had single Lugggers with wing engines for emergencies. Now they seem to offer twin C12 power.

    I remember seeing this boat for sale and the hull extension. The only thing I would change is the aft deck layout, too many built-ins. Fantastic design.

    Two were built in NZ: the 66/now 72 with a single Lugger, and the 72 with twin Cats

    And relocate the ER air intakes from low on the side decks, to a better protected higher location, plus some extra fuel for serious ocean cruising ?
    Otherwise, both look like capable and beautiful offshore cruisers.

    The owner of Nikita had good taste in marine art as well as yachts -- I think the marine print in the salon may be a Montague Dawson, one of my favorite marine artists. There were two other pieces of marine art I could glimpse in the video.

    I know nothing of marine art, thank goodness, I have too many other things to spend money on:)
    But since you bring it up, I will search Montague Dawson.
    My late Step Grandfather did marine art. Darrel McClure. I have a few of his oils.

    As to this boat, stunning in all regards.

    Hello to you all. I am a new member to Yacht Forums and I came across this thread whilst researching the history of this Chuck Paine 72 which is now called Rangeley. I am pleased to say that although my wife and I are an English couple, we flew over to Ft Lauderdale a few weeks ago and have now bought this motor yacht and completed the purchase. We are very pleased by your complimentary comments and we also think she is a beautiful yacht. We have been following her for the last 8 years or so as she has been on the market a couple of times during that period. We are back to Florida in a couple of weeks and are heading up to Newport R.I. and will post some photos on the way.
