Can someone tell me who would sell a direct replacement fuel pump for Onan Generator in FLL? Part # 149-2331-01
I’d rather not re-plumb for a generic pump.

I’m in the Bahamas now. Flying back to FLL to fetch some boat spares and will only have about an hour to finish many parts errands. Hoping for as much guidance as practical. Google results are difficult to separate wheat from the chaff. Arriving early morning so limited time to bird dog.

    2003 21.5KW with electric pump

Who is a Onan dealer in FLL that actually has a parts inventory?

sorry for brief initial post, been deep into bilge dive most of day developing a “list” of things that I need to source during my brief stop

    - Installed new kit in Racor.
    - New Racor filter
    - New secondary Onan fuel filter
    - Discoverd fuel pump very weak
    - Installed new fuel pump; discovered fuel line from tank had obstruction.
    - Blew low pressure into fuel line, cleared obstruction
    - Fuel is now making consistent fuel flow at outlet of pump.

Unit will run for five minutes, then shut down..

-tried hot wiring fuel pump, no joy…

Swapped supply line to adjacent Racor of Aux Gen (separate tank, feed line, Racor), same symptoms. So issue is not related to Racors of tank supply.

Unit is not shutting down via alarm (can hold shut-down plunger in and still winds down and dies

    Makes power while running.

    I’m totally out of ideas….

Air leak in fuel system, maybe somewhere between fuel pump and injector pump?

You have a fuel supply issue, install a gauge after the pump and see what fuel pressure is. Could also be sucking air as well, shine a flashlight into the racor bowl while it's running and see if you see bubbles coming out of the turbine. Just because you blew the line clear doesn't mean it didn't pickup crud again. Another issue could be a collapsing fuel line (internally) and blowing it out temporarily re-opened it. If fuel lines are old, I'd start there.

Almost “has to be” fuel line between pump and Racor. When we return to Spanish Wells I’ll connect a line directly to fuel pump and the feed from a bucket. Working theory is main fuel feed line is leaking due to vibration of running engine. When engine shuts down, line heals and pump makes good fuel again. Will report back w verdict next Monday

Final Report: When I picked up a new fuel pump from Sun Power they gave me a 12v pump; it's a 24v system.... After going WAY down a rabbit hole, finally got back to the "new" pump. The 12v pump would work for five minutes, then overheat and quit; I was misinterpreting that as symptomatic of something else.

Installed a 24v pump (15 minute job) and all is once again well with the world. I could write a book on how to spend days on a 15 minute job.....

Glad you got it worked out. Look on the bright side, at least you didn’t pay someone to go through all these steps and now you know that system and it’s condition really well.

Yep that number is definitely a 12vdc version. Oh well, it's fixed now.
