  1. Four-Deck Customized Steel Hull Explorer By Cheoy Lee
Cheoy Lee has been working on a custom four-deck steel-hull explorer. The design is by well-noted designer Jon Overing who has worked with Cheoy Lee to develop is sturdy platform to allow easy world-cruising. The hull is made of steel as was the choice of Overing as it represents toughness, durability, and ease of maintenance when an owner is going to be voyaging to off-the-beaten path destinations around the globe.
  2. Steel is also a material Cheoy Lee is accustomed to working with especially in their commercial exploits. Up to 9 months ago Cheoy Lee's commercial arm had more than 40 vessels in its orderbook which will be utilizing steel construction. "Dependability is number one, and the ability to fix the vessel quickly is very important. At Cheoy Lee, that commercial practicality is carried through to the recreational yacht side", said Cheoy Lee Shipyards Director B.Y. Lo.
  3. Aside from the rigid steel construction for the hull, the superstructure has been manufactured from aluminium and towards the end of last year was being readied to be mounted atop the hull. The efficiencies that Cheoy Lee works with allows them to create relatively speedy construction. The hull went from steel-cutting to hull turning in just over 3 months. This build is the first in the new Explorer Series by Cheoy Lee which is starting with the Explorer 107. Of course the yard is offering other sizes in the new series. Additionally there is the 126’, 130’ and 132’ specific to this series.
