https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/2...ter-2-boats-crash-off-key-biscayne/ar-AAYC8X1 Near verbatim text on all the news leads. Anybody down there have any more info? I can speculate, SSDD. (same sheet different dummies)
SOSO. Same old same old. Idiots running at high speed with missing running lights and/or bright lights all over the helm and forward of the helm. Half the boats we see at night here fall in that category always pretty clear cut with you get hit on your stbd aide…. I m guessing the other boat wasn’t that big or it would have run over and completely destroyed the console. we avoid going out on week end especially at night. Too many idiots
To many Darwin contestants.. Shame is, they still affect folk like your self and us, that avoids them whenever possible. Next years insurance goes up,,, again...
is it interesting? the other boat hasn't made any news on this I find this very interesting. it's a sad story and should have never happen.
Yep The news media is a joke. Covering the water front in FL is near nonexistent. I sure would like to get the whole story..
Indeed. I ve been wondering why there has been no mention of the other boat, no pictures, nothing. Suspicious.
Seemed to me there was very little information in a story with that many people involved and 2 deaths. Seems like a serious story to me. I was wondering if any of you close by had more info when I posted the thread.
This is really interesting I think we have a high-profile person involved and this was squashed like an " ANT " one of two things a politician or A lawyer who has juice with locals, I Heard something early today about a classic boat and a yacht club that's it.
I'm sure that happens. But, in this instance, it doesn't sound like either boat was carrying VIPs. The one boat is a modest single-outboard center console and the other boat (the one with the two decedents, father and adult son Cuban immigrants) is being described as an 'antique vessel.' It seems that one may have sank. But, reporting isn't clear. With respect to coverage, I read about it in the NYTimes before I saw it posted here. And yesterday, there was a reasonably thorough story in WSVN, other than failing to fully describe what happened to the 'antique vessel.' Also, looking at the pictures of the center console, I have a hard time believing it was rated for eight people. It looks like a six-person boat. We'll see if it was overcrowded.
My free access to the NYT has passed. You just posted new info to me. Still would like " The rest of the whole story"..
Right, there's a dearth of details available with respect to how the accident unfolded. I suspect local journalists are at the mercy of whatever information FWC & USCG feeds them because there doesn't appear to have been any eyewitnesses who weren't in either boat and both occupants of one of the vessels are dead. In fact, the boater who was first on seen wasn't responding to the accident. Instead, he just happened to see people on the water as he was traversing Biscayne Bay and didn't have any idea how the accident unfolded. There likely won't be much more reliable information available until the accident reports are written....or charges are filed, whichever comes first.
Josie found this last night; https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/miami-dade/article262705592.html
It's remarkable how many details in the Miami Herald story are materially different from what WSVN was reporting just two mornings ago.
Old Saying Trust but verify . this is south Florida nothing makes sense . even the coast guard didn't post anything Twitter ! Na more to the story can't wait till you see the pictures of the boat getting pulled out of the water let's see .
I was looking over that CC boat picture again; The CG(?) person on the boat, is he holding a flash light in left hand or is that the back of the (green) light missing its green lens? I have noticed before, nav lights on the console gets blocked by people who naturally want to stand or lean on the side of the console. Blocking the nav lights but also blocking the operators view. What ya think?? Till (IF) the whole store comes out, Yea, I can arm chair speculate.. Bay full of SFBs.. I used to work that area. It was rough 18 to 20 years ago at night. Got to be a night mare now..
It's kind of interesting the power points !! they said something about a yacht club well this tells me it was they came out of the yacht club (Classic Picnic boat) and I think well they had way to many drinks and the boat sunk after they hit the little boat and nothing else was reported but the names were released well this gives me other ideas "the truth well set you free" but they rather talk about the man who was pulled over on the road by the Miami officer remark well big deal I understood what he was saying . use your seat belt .... sorry for the political part but I had it with the news these days .
I know that club. It is a fine and prominent yacht club. I don't want to get deep in this direction my self, I still have connections there. I can never say anything against that club directly. The club is not responsible for actions of members or guest operating in a non club function in the open waters. But honestly; Yes, your comment may have merit, is the best I can do.
I ve never seen a picnic boat in or out of “that” YC. Plenty of morons in big sportfish waking the whole anchorage… without going into details the club staff including the illiterate after hour rentacops are just a bunch of pretentious you know what.
