News: Heesen's Flagship 80M "Galactica" Launched

Heesen has launched their flagship 80-meter "Galactica" - previously known as Project 'Cosmos'. The name might jog your memory as it is associated with two previous Heesen builds with similar-themed names. This 80.07-meter superyacht is designed by the noted firm Winch Design while the interior is the work of the Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. The Naval Architecture for the hull was developed by Van Oossanen who prepared a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) for Galactica.

Utilizing the FDHF and combining it with some brut force using four MTU 20V 4000 M73 marine diesels Galactica is a powerful and fast vessel, remember this yacht is 80-meters. Keeping that in mind, the 1,700 GT superyacht is predicted to be capable of nearly 30-knots. Her construction is in all-aluminium to help achieve this feat which provides a strong structure but keeps the weight down vs if they used steel-hull construction. At 80-07-meters she has a beam of 13.40-meters and a draft of 3.50-meters at half load.

On the interior there are numerous special touches with the utilization of prized stone, timber and other materials. One of those stand-out features is a fully-clad Onyx bar that guests can be served from. This bar is backlit as well which makes the patterns and veining of the stone pop to life. Another feature is her glass-bottomed swimming pool which is located on the aft main deck. On the lower deck there is a large beach club. Her long bow serves as the platform for the helipad which can be transformed into an outdoor cinema when a helicopter is not onboard. Guest accommodation is in a full-beam owner’s stateroom, one VIP suite, four double guest suites all for twelve (12) guests. Nineteen (19) crew will look after this yacht as well as serve the guests and owner. Galactica is and according to Heesen she is expected to be delivered in April, 2022.
