Came to the show via Cleanslate today. Started a few days ago calling for a slip… I always get one , no matter the event… Got one …this morning while in route C & D canal from Cape May… The Yacht Basin… Front and center! OB don’t you come in and block my view! AND was lucky enough to have the tide with the entire way , just a little slack tide through the CD canal .
OB … Nice ! The closest I’ve been to Italy is South Philadelphia. One day. Thanks for the instant reply. Hope all is well.
One thing about having a small boat. Your chances of getting a slip on the spot increase ten fold….no matter where or when.
I was there today, and noticed it is smaller than usual. For the first time in my memory, new boats and brokerage boats are together. There were a couple of standouts, the new Burger 50, which I had not expected to like, is impressive and worthy of the name. Also, in the brokerage section is the finest Downeaster boat ever built in my opinion, the 50 foot Wesmac/Wilbur built in 2001. Acres of varnish, a 17 foot beam, side decks which could accommodate a Maine bear. Best, Maldwin
Hey Maldwin, it was a pleasure to meet you this morning sorry you caught me in the middle of adjusting the governor on my engine. Sorry I couldn’t spend more time with you. As you could tell I was into it, with my Ratty work clothes and head lamp on. Stop by later on this late afternoon or early evening for a cocktail of your choice and I’ll give you a quick tour of the boat if you want.
Beautiful day in Annapolis. Excellent boat show, not to crowded. Maldwin in the previous post some did up perfectly that includes the comments about the two different boats. We also found the Belize 54 footer to be quite nice. back to reality, I found quite a few nice things for both my boats from the various vendors. including a starter rebuild her place in Philadelphia that I never knew about they have various locations. Anyone ever use them ? “PASCO” My Chris-Craft inboard run about (Dory) goes through starters..they just plain get wet with in. So I’ve Acquired a collection to get rebuilt. Yes I still have to put more effort into bilge water removal. Still a challenge when the bottom of the bell housing sets aft 2” or so off the bottom of the bilge .
"Still a challenge when the bottom of the bell housing sets aft 2” or so off the bottom of the bilge ." Could you build a "dike" around it. ?
There are a few Pasco stores around, more often referenced for batteries, but they also do alternators and so forth. My (few) dealings with their west Annapolis store have been good. -Chris
Fortunately I can't get into the area until late next week. (I'll be across the water in Rock Hall MD) I say fortunately because my wallet can't take any more.
