Hi! Have recently purchased 2005 65’ Viking and have a long list.
    My question is…
The fresh water breaker is tripping. Is it because the tank is full?
If not, will have to go they the process.
The boat has not been used for sometime, and owner passed. So trying to pick up the pieces.

I assume you mean the freshwater pump breaker is tripping? This should not have anything to do with the tank being full.

Your pump motor is probably locked up tripping the breaker.

Agree, had assumed freshwater pump was most likely bad, just wondered if any preventative connection or float that prevented dumping more water into tank in this boat. My other system on the 43’ Express just overflows toilet.
Does anyone know if there is a gauge anywhere on the boat that indicates full tank, needs dump/pump out? Thanks!

There is just no way that overfilling the fresh water tank could result in a toilet overflowing. Makes no sense.

when asking technical questions please make sure you provide details about your system. What kind of fresh water pump do you have ? Brand ? Model? Chances are that on a 16 year old boat, the pump has been replaced. maybe with the same as original but maybe not.

there is no way a full tank will cause the fresh water pump To trip its breaker.

Does it trip right away or does it run for a while before tripping?

can’t expect intelligent answers without asking intelligent questions.

Thanks. I know there is no connection between the fresh water tank, only wondered if there was a float or gauge that indicated when the waste/dirty water tank was full in that boat that would prevent you from putting in more fresh water. I got it, new pump. Any recommendations out there for type/flow replacement?

Also, yes, it trips right away.

Replacement pump depends on what you have right now. Most quality boats over 50/55 typically use a Headhunter Mach 5 120 or 240v These pumps are excellent although a little finicky with air leaks on the intake side.

they do require large intake hoses though.

also, what kind of heads do you have? I know Viking used headhunters and these require 55 to 60 psi of pressure to flush properly.

otherwise look forward a pump with good pressure (at least 45/50 psi) and good flow like 5 to 6 GPM.

One DC pump with good pressure is the Jabsco Hotshot HD6. It s sold as a wash down pump but works well as a fresh water pump.

finally if you have a 120/240v pump, having a DC pump is a good idea. Actually I would never have a boat with only one pump regardless of voltage

As to black water tank gauge, there should be one somewhere.

the AC fresh water pump on that boat will trip the breaker if the water tank drops below a certain level. There is no black water tank gauge, but there is a light that illuminates in the sub panel when the tank is full. Look at the sub panel in the kitchen.

Which 65 did you get? FinAtic out of SD by any chance?
