May be a stronger market as 4 6V92DDEC's. Unbolt those mothers

Accept they wouldn't have crankshafts then. And I believe turbos are different as well but not 100% certain. If someone wants them as 6v's I would certainly entertain that. At any rate, I'm not in a hurry nor looking for top dollar. I mainly posted here in case someone needs parts. I've gotten lots of great help from this site so hopefully I can pay it back by helping someone with some parts for much less than they can get otherwise.

I just installed trolling valves and am wondering if they are working correctly. I dropped from 7kts at idle to 3kts. How slow were you able to go?

I could go zero if I wanted to. I don’t know what set up you have. With mine I could adjust RPMs from 500-1000 and then drop clutch pressure all the way to zero and up from there. So I could do anywhere from zero to normal idle speed using the trolling valves. I typically ran two knots trolling for Kings and Coho.

Thanks for the quick response. I thought I should me able to get below 1kt, good to know it’s possible. I ran it yesterday after installer finished getting 3kts down from 7kts at 600rpm idle.

I have MTU Series 60 at 825hp with Twin Disc MG5114 and MTU/Sturdy controls. Engaging troll increases rpm to 700 from 600 at idle. I don’t understand why the rpm needs to increase over idle going into troll mode. In troll mode, the RPM does not change as I advance the throttle which changes the gear slip.

I’m going to test more thoroughly over the next day or two before hauling out.

On my Detriot DDEC/Sturdy controls you can select the RPM you want. You push the troll button and hold it in. RPM cycles from 600-1000. Release the button when at the RPM you want. To get down to 500 RPM I set troll to 600 then engaged Low Idle mode which drops the RPM down another 100. Mine does same as yours when in troll mode the throttles become the controller for gear clutch pressure. I would put my displays in the mode where I could see clutch pressure and true shaft RPM. I would usually have clutch pressure around 18-20 psi and at 500 RPM that would give me about 75 shaft rpm.

People are crazy - had a guy that was buying my 12v92's I removed. He pays to ship them from Ketchikan, Alaska down to Detriot Dealer in Seattle to have them dyno tested. He pays to have them dyno'd. A few adjustments and both engines run good and make rated power. He paid the dealer $18k for dyno testing, sent his guy from florida to witness and was there two weeks. So he has spent well over $25k testing. Now he decides he's not going to buy them as they are 30 years old and going with new engines.
Then he tells me both my ECM's and MIM's are shorted. Which I know they were not so they probably hooked them up wrong. WTF !!

I guess the upside is I will have the Dyno reports showing both engines as good for the next potential buyer!

    What was the contract?

    IMO;
You fry them, you buy them.
    No parting out....
    They go with the engines.
    Still waiting for my check.

Why would you do this deal at all? If they ship, they are considered sold with cash in hand BEFORE they ship.

Valid point and lesson learned for me. My gut told me this wasn't going to end well and here I am. I let the broker talk me into this even though I knew better.

Did the shopper play hardball and refuse to pay up front or at least a significant security deposit? What the heck? The more you can tell us the more we can learn and avoid similar screw ball shoppers. It's not like this is a craigslist kind of transaction.

There was talk of a deposit but it never materialized. I figured it would be refundable regardless so talked myself out of the need. I feel like such a jackass. I deal in huge contracts all day for a living but let this go down with only emails back and forth.
The broker was careful to never let me know the details on the buyer or his direct contact info. I guess she figured if we were in direct contact we would just cut her out of the deal. I actually feel sorry for her as she is getting nothing for her time and effort and she was decent to deal with. Dealer is Gold Coast Power. She was more shocked than I was when they walked away after spending so much.
