This is for a 1997 51' Sunseeker Camargue. We have a strong odor and want to investigate hoses, sensor wires connections etc. but can not locate the Tank. From schematics it appears to be under the floor at the bottom of the stairs to the salon. The previous owner had a new hardwood floor installed and I am wondering if the access hatches were covered over, or were the stairs suppose to be removeable. The same goes for the water tank access (there is none). Although 4 other access hatches were cut into the new floor for pumps etc.. Being a 1997 we are thinking it could be hose permeation or leaking at the top of the tank.
I think that could be a problem (as well) - again we can't find it, I have searched for everything and had two marine technicians on the boat also looking. I was hoping someone with the same boat may see this and confirm where the tank is before we cut the Cherrywood floor!
Actually a clogged vent filter doesn’t directly cause odors, it does worst... it can cause the tank become pressurized when flushing and to collapse when pumping out. This can cause seals especially at the gauge sender to be damaged resulting in smells. the filters are usually installed high up near the vent on the hull side. Find the vent and check inside. Smart builders usually place them in the back of cabinets or closets. now on a 20+ year old boat chances are you hoses are permeated and will need to be replaced
