    I own a 2000 Carver 450 voyager.

the two rudders pass through the hull in a small recessed area. I am collecting maybe a quart of water on each side. This is after a four hour run.

I have looked a past posts but they seem to be more involved problems than I have. Is there a small adjust to a gland I can do? Is this using old style packing that needs to be replaced?

    any suggestions appreciated

I knew this was coming.... I just ran out of time putting the boat away and forgot to go back in and get photos.

can’t get back to boat for a couple of weeks I’ll have to put on hold until I return

    look forward to your input

ok I don’t know why I had these but it accidentally shows rudders. Does this shed any light on a diy fix for small leakage while underway?

Looks like you have some kind of lip seal, working directly around the rudder shaft surface, which appears to be a bit corroded.
So, to answer your OP question, if the seal is working on a corroded shaft surface, any seal tightening (which btw I don't think is possible, judging by your pics) would be pointless.
Worth pulling the rudders out and check the shafts carefully, I think.
If the corrosion is superficial enough, clean them very well and replace the seals.

Yes I noticed the Corrosion. I know from outside of the boat you can push and pull on the rudders and there is no play. I guess if there was play I would have constant water intrusion. Any idea where I can get info on how to complete this disassembly ?

From Carver, the kids who specked and built it.
They can at least offer the vendor's name and contact info.

Could be a Tides lip seal, but take Ralph’s advice and ask Carver.
