    I just went to that link and it says:
    NBC is broadcasting the America’s Cup LIVE in your region
    : Goto NBSSports Now

    I go to NBCSports and they are charging US $174.99 and when I clicked out a banner came on and said "Wait before you go save 10% off America's Cup Pass. Down to US$157.50.

    I was shopping on The Official 36th America's Cup site for a hoodie and windbreaker, after shopping they don't indicate actual shipping but indicated that it would be based on duties as well. DHL sends me a shipping and duty charge to release the package of two sweatshirts and one windbreaker for just of US$250.00.

    I am getting old, or The America's Cup is starting to go to places I am no longer interested in.

    I like the tech and the flying on the water but I may just stick to YouTube for now too.

    Well I guess these replies answer the geo-blocking question... here in Canada I didn't have any issues. I guess NBC got the exclusive rights for airing it in the US. $175 seems utterly stupid though.

    Pascal's idea is the right one. VPN... learn it, love it.

    The British team lost all 6 races in the warm-up series, some very badly. They took the boat away and did loads of work on the foils.

    They have now won all 3 races so far. Watching on Youtube too.

    I am not loving the low breeze conditions. Seems more of a crap shoot. Now we wait to see who is dropping off the foils first or the most. That is part of the game to be sure but I would rather watch these vessels flying.

    There was a time on the course boundary that would have been the coolest thing short of being on the boat, seeing one of these flying on the water at 30kts and pulling a coming about pulling who knows how many Gs would be a blast. Glad to see all the kiwis on the water enjoying the festivities.

    That hole is not what I expected. Once they'd right Patriot and it became clear she was taking on water I assumed it had something to do with the wing/foil and where it comes out of the hull. (Think about the IMOCA boats and other ocean racers... short of hitting something, if they start taking on water it's a sure bet it's the keel box, or the fancy wing/foil mechanisms.)

    As great as carbon fiber is, it can be alarmingly weak when forces are applied in a way that it wasn't designed for.

    I haven't seen any official comments yet... but I'm wondering if something inside the hull broke loose upon landing and went out through that hole.

    Indeed the pressure on the foil arm upon landing must have been tremendous. The hole seems fairly square like the skin sheared along frames and stringers because of the pressure or the water upon impact.

    well, they have 4 days to patch it up :) hopefully all the electronics inside the boat are waterproof!

    Unofficially reported that the battery that powers the Foil Cant System broke free on landing and went through the hull.

    newly released on board video (from the bow sprit) seem to show some heavy wires hanging for the hole after initial impact.

    also that would explain why while the boat was on its side, a couple Of crew opened a large round hatch up on the port side, as if they were looking for something inside.

    Just watching Hutchinson's press-conference now.

    Noteworthy:
    -all batteries accounted for, nothing left the hull
    -FCS is dead
    -Patriot is not a write-off, they'll strip everything needed from Defiant (including the FCS) and reinstall it all
    -the hole in the hull is a result of the impact (coming down on it's side as opposed to a "conventional" impact, landing on the keel)
    -the team had pizza delivered while they towed Patriot back to their base, which took several hours at 2-3 knots

    Pictures of the boat after being hauled show that it was strings of carbon fiber not cables. So they re writing off the round robins and hoping to be ready for the semi.

    I would assume the hull of Patriot is a high-tech melange of carbon fiber, maybe unified with resin infusion, vacuum bagging or baking in a huge oven. How will the shore crew be able to fabricate a satisfactory patch -- do they have the equipment to do that kind of work in their at shore base in New Zealand? And how can they get it done in four days?

    I wonder who/what caused a terrible screw up not releasing the leeward running stay? Apparently that is what caused the capsize, although I gather there was a freak gust right when Patriot was jibing.

    The American Magic effort has been a real nightmare. Especially sad because Patriot was ahead of Luna Rossa by 42 seconds -- it could have been the first win by Patriot.
