Might be easiest to just turn it into a manual door and do away with the electrical part of it entirely.
I would be tracking down user Mapism and begging him to contact either or both Azimut and Cantalupi. By phone. He loves the Azimuts and speaks the lingo, and he's somewhere in the area. Seems like a very nice, helpful guy, here in the forums.
Thanks for the flowers, but I'm not sure about the very first bit of your sentence. In several decades, I came across some boats which I liked, but none which I really loved. And none of them were built by Azimut, anyway. BUT, they happen to run a business whose results any of the US builders which are constantly praised here can only dream of. So, being the most successful company in this industry, it ain't a matter of liking/loving them or not. It's rather a matter of getting used to deal with them, because constantly moaning about their boats/support/whatever is not only pointless, but also boring.
He's asking if you could step in and call the factories and speak to them in their native language and see if you can find the proper person/help/answers for the OP.
In my understanding, d_meister didn't ask ME anything, he just suggested the OP to do that. Anyway, if you are now sort of asking on the OP behalf, well, of course I could take a shot at that, but only if he wants. Just for the records, I already did exactly the same a few months ago, establishing a contact with the Motronica aftersales manager (who does speak English) for a forumite who was struggling to fix something on one of their electrical panels, and neither I heard from him about the result, nor he posted here anymore. So, you'll forgive me for not being so interested to step in unless asked. And last but not least, in the OP boots I would carefully consider the suggestion you already gave in post #21. 'Fiuaskme, there are already enough components on a boat that can create problems, so I wouldn't mind getting rid of one of them.
I am sorry for mis-characterizing you, at least in the first part of the subject sentence. I'll stand by the second part, and add "but sometimes a little sensitive" as an addendum. I did not mean to weigh in on the ongoing Azimut range war, as I think Azimut is better than some builders, and not as good as others. Actually, I think any product that provides work in the aftermarket is fine. It would not serve my purposes if there was actually a perfect boat. I had at one time been involved in the supply chain of Azimuts to Mexico, and then provided service to the resident Azimuts in Ixtapa, Mexico, so I am only grateful for the money-making opportunities I had. Hand that feeds you and all that. You won't find any of my posts in the Azimut battles.
What do you mean "LOL"? Is there anything in the Bayliner demise that you found entertaining? Regardless, you'd better not hold your breath if you - for some weird reason that I can't understand - are hoping to get the same pleasure seeing Azimut go down the same route.
No worries, I fully understood your good spirit, and if my reply came across as if I were offended, it absolutely wasn't meant to - sorry about that. I also appreciate that you (as well as many others, actually) never joined the "Mutt-dismissing" group. By the same token, you will never find a post where I called Bayliner "Binliner", just to name another builder which was just thrown in the debate.
How would $12k solve the problem? Would that be a whole new automatic door system or installation of a system that would make your existing doors work properly? Sounds like the latter and maybe the best option unless changing them to manual is better. The rear salon door on our Hatteras 80' is manual but they were made automated as well.
