Just got my Notice of Non-Renewal ! For Trade Winds Insurance from Norman Spencer Agency. Insuror was State National. My premium is 1.5% on $210,000 for a 2002 Viking Sport Cruiser I would appreciate any recommendations for a Houston area marine insurance broker to find a new policy.
Is there a reason you need a Houston area broker? I'd suggest you repost on this thread: https://www.yachtforums.com/threads/insurance.32832/ Nobody on there from Texas at the moment, but the issue doesn't seem to be confined to there.
I got the same letter from the same company and never had a claim. You might try Bradley Insurance Group out of south Florida.
They dumped me last year to. No claims ever. Plus my boat is 39 years old 1981. Survey or not , they did not want to insure a boat over twenty years old... I got mine with StateFarm. No survey needed if your boat value is under $50k, which mine is ..$49k. But if your over $50k , as most of you are they will want a current survey. You will most likely have to get a current survey done to get insurance. sorry to say.
I have used and recommended Joe Kolisch for over 30 years. Never a complaint. Kolisch Marine Insurance.
