April 15, 2020 1:51 pm | Erofey Schkvarkin MAERSK offshore supply tug attacked in Gulf of Mexico Erofey Schkvarkin News April 15, 2020 1:51 pm Offshore tug, supply ship MAERSK TRANSPORTER was attacked and boarded by armed pirates at night Apr 12 in Gulf of Mexico off Cuidad Del Carmen, Mexico, roughly in the same area where 3 days earlier Italian supply ship REMAS was attacked. Attack was carried out in same manner, too. http://www.maritimebulletin.net/202...rded-by-armed-pirates-in-mexico-waters-video/ Pirates took several crew as hostages and looted the ship, taking with valuable items. Crew luckily, weren’t hurt.
Mexican waters, will have to see what Mexican Navy response is, they have been building plenty of new ships, let’s see if they know what to do with them. https://navaltoday.com/2018/11/23/mexican-navy-launches-arm-reformador/
The Coast Guard is busy manning our submarine nets for Iranian and Chinese and other bad actors who have been gaming/planning their coordinated sneak submarine missile attack for over a decade. Their is a multi facet attack against the west and the virus is but one of the major vectors of attack.
The US Coast Guard has been building an active fleet of Patrol Cutters for US waters and abroad and has recently launched the 37th of what will be at least 50 ships to locate throughout the US. https://www.workboat.com/news/shipb...ers-37th-fast-response-cutter-to-coast-guard/ Mexico has built a fleet of semi sister ships (both Damen Designs) for their waters as well: https://www.naval-technology.com/projects/tnochtitlan-class-coastal-patrol-vessels/ It really is more of a battle between the Mexican Government and the Drug Cartels, probably retribution over government contracts and corruption. Mexico has the firepower in ships now they need to use some live ammo instead of spending all their time "practicing".
Looks like the Mexican patrol vessels has a rather short lifespan: https://www.naval-technology.com/projects/tnochtitlan-class-coastal-patrol-vessels/
The Italian ship Remas has been attacked three times now in Gulf of Mexico, N of Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico. Once two crew injured, and the second time no injuries and the third time they were able to maneuver enough to stop boarding. Wonder how much danger pay is on board that boat for crew?
Paranoia to me means unreasonable or based on a neurosis. I don’t find Ghostrider’s post unreasonable. I think one of the consequences of Covid is the world is seeing China for the bad actor they are. Not criticizing the people (some of them are quite unsatisfied with their government. Also I think it is becoming obvious that we are in or entering a Cold War with China. Do we have the money to fight another Cold War? I don’t think so. Perhaps China’s mishandling (to put it mildly) will result in other countries pulling critical manufacturing out of their country and reducing trade with them. Maybe that will teach them a lesson or make them more desperate thus dangerous. We shall see.
