Hello. I'm a new member. Wasn't sure where to post this . I was browsing the Oceanco website and found that they are planning Y703 and a Y704. WOW they are keeping busy.... John
All you have to do is click on Oceanco's banners. Then click on one of the yachts scrolling across the screen.
One of our members, Paolo ITA, just reminded me... I took pictures of the new Y703 model at FLIBS. Here's the link... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/oceanco-yacht/3919-new-oceanco-build-sam-sorgiovanni-design.html
703 looks really nice now i look at the model....but i still like Y704 better...i love the central external glass...kindof reminicent of Lurssen's Ice but just coverign more decks...and the overal angular looks. Looks like a continuation of the 701 design... Speaking of 701, have we heard or seen any more information or pics about this magnificent yacht...she is supposed to be delivered in Autumn..
There is something you don't see everyday... I like the varnished transom. I don't think I've ever seen one on a boat of that size.
Good eye Ken. And yet another element... check out the toe rail. It's been a while since we've seen BIG white boats with some wood trim. Some (most?) would say this is GOOD thing! On Y703, that toe rail blends into a handrail... that becomes an exterior accent... in a fairly inaccessible location. The crew may get mutinous when it comes time for maintenance.
I didn't want to say anything negative, but I don't know how they are going to maintain that toe rail. We have several hundred feet of varnished rails, but it is all accessible for maintenance. It sure will be interesting to see some of the islanders hanging off the side of 703 with a varnish pot strung around their necks.
Correct!.....its commonly seen on many of the classic designed yachts.....runs from the prow along the bulwark to serve as a handrail and then cuts across the superstructure of the yacht along the same lines and then incorporates into the aft hand rails....well thats how i see many of them done....and it looks no different to me on 703 except a bit thicker?
Paolo, Maybe it would be better to post a link to YF's press release on Y702? http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/oceanco-yacht/4329-new-oceanco-y702.html
its ok guys.....but i really like the wodden finish to the engine room/tender or whatever entrance.. on the model of Y703...i only know of two yachts with a stern done like that...i think it is Sarfasa and the other one ( cant remember its name) but it was a megayacht that had a wooeden hull and was damaged in a storm in Greece a couple years ago...
Yes, thats her name, i couldnt remember how to spelt it for nothing though... that was a very nice looking yacht.....was she the only yacht to have a wodden hull?.........megayacht i mean at least of modern times?
