I don't know if the rendering in the link below was done with software. But if it was, they did a great job of making it appear to be hand drawn http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/burger-yacht/3884-new-burger-sea-owl.html Kelly Cook
It is a nice rendering, for sure made by hand. Winch normally deliver just hand drawings, eventhough this might be made somewhere else, I don“t see the typical Winch kind of drawing. It is probably pretty big, to have on the wall while waiting for the real thing! And I also like to see this tradition continue, nothing is more boring than 3D-animated yachts imposed on photos...
Hi Kelly, it is a hand drawing. you can do this digitaly also. I can suggest you to try a free software called Deep Paint. It can simulate oil, pastel, etc on canvas, paper etc.... Just type Deep Paint 2.0 in Google. Cheers... Jos
This is easy to make in photoshop. The real master of rendering is Bo Zolland at www.viztech.se So realistic that you can feel the taste of saltwater....
There was a discussion somewhere of how much "photorealism" is needed to present the product you want to sell. Too much distract the attention of the object. yes, it is true you can make such renderings as above with a 2D software like Photoshop. Maybe it is his style to represent his ideas. I like more the style that shows clean lines on concept renderings and put a little color on it (decent). JOS
ne pic i like this topic.. here a new group 3D-models of actual sailyachts and megayachts made for arch. renderings enjoy: http://www.tsoe.com/neu/ships/inspirations/NewSY3d-models.jpg
Well done. Except when situated this closely to each other they would have their fenders hanging over the hull side. Plus there would certainly be people visible on deck. nit-pick Kelly
These renderings are beautiful. The modeling is excellent too. I design Exhibits for tradeshows and find that a lot of clients don't like the crisp computer renderings. They feel that the design is too defined and that there is no room for discussion. If it is more artistic looking, as can be done in photoshop, then the client feels that they can have more input. It's fun to fade out the design and let it turn into a gesture. Having it go from color to a line drawing all in one can give it more of an artistic look too. I used to do all my renderings by hand, but when you have to make changes, it was so labor intensive and time consuming. It's sad to say that I have gotten spoiled by the computer and don't find myself drawing as much. I love to see hand renderings. For concpets, sometimes a quick hand rendering is the way to go. I actually did a concept for a 140' yacht done on Canson paper and used a minimal amount of markers and a lot of chalk. A relative quick process. start to finish was about 2 hours.
We would love to see your drawings (hand drawings) if possible... Yes you are right machine made are to crispy! JOS
Click Post Reply in the thread. Below the message box, click Manage Attachments. A window will open. Click "Browse" and look for the image/file on your hard drive. Double click this file and the path will automatically be set. Now, close the Manage Attachments window and click "Submit". Keep images under 640 pixels wide. If they are too large, the system will not allow you to upload. I have image size parameters set for higher pixels, only because I don't want newbies and geezers to become frustrated. Instead, I take a few minutes each day to adjust images accordingly for those that are image-size challenged.
JOS, Here is the concept I did in College. I know proportions are off, because this was done rather quickly. It was basically an ideation sketch just to get an idea down. This was done in about 2 hours. What is quick about this is that the color of the paper is the main color of the yacht. Then markers are used for shadows and white chalk for highlights. The water is about 3 different shades of blue chalk, some white (paint) for the water details, and then go over the whole drawing with a sharp black and white colored pencils for details and highlights and your done.
This sketch was done about 11 years ago...and since then I haven't pick up a marker too much after that. I mostly design on computer now. Looking at it now, there are a lot of things I would change. Maybe I can find some time and get back into this. This was inspired by some pictures that I saw and the technique was taught by my Industrial design teachers. I will say that it was a fun project.
more actual models Shiver? Riva Athena? ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM? more 3dmodels for arch. renderings the big rendering - enjoy: http://www.tsoe.com/neu/ships/inspirations/NewMY3d-models.jpg
TomTom, That's the most impressive collection of 3-D models I've ever seen! I went to TurboSquid to view more of your models and the various angles/aspects you've created. Truly outstanding work and we're proud to have you as a member. When you get a chance, drop me a PM. I might be able to put you in touch with some people that could use your renderings.
