Hi, Did not want to highjack the survivors post and when you mentioned Pearson I had a story. I never even knew Pearson made power boats, just sail boats. One of my friends ( #1) had his Dad's Pearson 32 or 38 cabin cruiser power boat in his back yard. It was in pieces, heads off, rusty cylinders etc. Friend 1 was moving and would give the boat away to a good home. I told Friend #2 about it but he was uninterested in a derelict power boat.. When friend 2 found out the boat was FREE, he was in. Boat was about 3 hours away by truck. No water anywhere near it so it was hauled over land to Rock Hall MD from Downingtown Pa. Friend # 1 thought Friend # 2 was going to restore the family yacht to her former glory. Friend # 2 had other plans and the Pearson was not in the yard of Friend 2 for 10 minutes before the chainsaws came out. Friend # 2 raised the bow, put on collar boards and a small pilot house and installed a 450 hp, 671 in the Pearson to make a it nice tow boat/work boat. Friend # 2 was a Detroit fanatic to the end. As mentioned, the hull was bullet proof, thick and over engineered, perfect for the abuse it got over the next 20 years. I don't have a picture on hand but, Ralph, you would like it. I never had the heart to tell Friend # 1 what became of his family's pride and joy but the boat did get a second life. That was easily 20 years ago and the tow boat lives on, only now she has a Cummins, a baby blue hull and a new owner. Long winded, sorry, thought you'd enjoy it.
Yup they did. I believe they were 38/40ft. My parents friend had one up until the 1990's. And I remember one at Johnson Brothers in Bay Head NJ called the Blue Whale. I was aboard both. They were a nice boats.
