Hi all, I have a carver mariner and I am thinking to upgrade to carver 444 cpmy. While I was looking online I found meridian 459 that looks very similar and has the same engines. I am not familiar with meridian as a builder. Can somebody explain to me the differences? Also, any feed back on 444 CPMY?

    Carver vs. Meridian

You cannot compare the two boats at sea.
You should test drive each boat and see the difference. My advice is sea trial them on a snotty day.

Not too snotty a day. The 444 absolutely had my attention in 4' seas. Prefer the engineroom layout of the Meridian, especially not accessing from the salon

Old thread but I am looking at both these boats which is how I came across this website. I believe one does access the Meridian's engine room from the salon.

Didn't Brunswick get rid of the bigger Bayliners and call them Meridians? I have a 444, love the boat and have no problem in 4' seas. I cruise regularly in a 20-30 knot blow with 2-3' chop in the bay with no problem at all. Out in the blue water it does fine also but I haven't had it in more than 4-5'. Every time I have had to work on this boat I have found that Carver provided really nice easy access with cutouts.
