Hello, Looking to do a pre purchase survey for a powerboat flybridge in the boston area this week/Thursday. Any recommendations who to use? Thanks so much, Ron
I have used and recommend: (I have no connection with him other than I am a past customer who is extremely pleased with his work) https://www.mcdonoughmarinesurveyors.com/ John C. McDonough – SAMS® Accredited Marine Surveyor 1999 (Post edited to remove digits that feed bots)
Thank you all for your recommendations. After much searching (contacting 15 different surveyors from researching on this site, other blogs, peoples recommendations and different leads) I was very fortunate enough to reserve the survey with Tim Pitts (nice guy). I suppose this is a busy time of the year for engine and hull surveyors before boats get winterised. The survey was to occur early morning yesterday. All scheduled with engine surveyor (from Power Products...by the way they are great as they had a cancellation and was able to fit us in), Tim Pitts, a haul out place and Hotel and flights paid in full. Everything done/confirmed by Thursday evening of last week and kept seller broker in the know the entire time. Contract scheduled to give acceptance/decline of boat by 8/30 and close on 9/4. Unfortunately and surprisingly the seller emailed broker (after Thursday) stating due to "health reasons" he was not selling the boat and was cancelling the contract. Said nothing else. My broker found out yesterday (from industry folks) he had another survey done by another party this past friday and traded the boat this weekend while in contract with me. Very disheartening and disappointing. much more on that later. Ay Vey There must be a forum on this site for Tales of the Crypt. Bad Mojo or a Blessing in Disguise?
