Welcome back Mr retiree. This particular vessel you pictured represents a portion of what I think is wrong with many yachts designs these modern days,...what a terrible design in terms of appearance. Certainly not very 'yachting' in my estimation. Perhaps the designer played with too many Lego toys in his youth
Agree, having lived on one for a couple of years I know they are true "mini-superyachts"... Here is when our 85' was in Puerto Portals;
Today at Port d'Andratx. All damage removed from the last winter storm, no more sunken or damaged boats. Many boats are still on the hard preparing for the season. Crews and subcontractors are busy. Btw. the hills beyond the harbour are called the Duesseldorf mountains, because almost all property belongs to people from Germany. The spanish people in the village of Andratx almost feel a little bit occupied . I still like the last boat, a Bandido 90 from the Drettman aera. A huge amount of volume build in 3 decks and only 24 meters of length (officially, London load line measurement). Means this boat is build under CE rule, no class required. Crew of 3 or 4 plus 8 guests. 2 x 1200 HP MANs V12 and a descent internal tender garage. By looking at her, one could think, pretty top heavy. I was on her during her presentation and on sea trails in 5 to 6 ft waves. Pretty solid boat with very comfortable behaviour. Not many points for her beauty but her proportions are squeezed for keeping her in measurement. You just can't have it all.
Below the results of todays morning walk through Port Adriano (did not have to walk very far ). 37,3 Meter, 2011 Heesen Yacht Aurelia with her 14 ft Castoldi Chase Tender. Yacht and Tender are painted like the race cars of her German owner. The brand new (2017) 35 Meter Princess Yacht El Guajiro and one also very nice looking 30 Meter Princess The little bit out of time Explorer "yacht" HCH X (former Lady Esther), a 1973 / 1994 Halter Marine converted commercial vessel. Looks like it serves it purpose. I especially like her beefy Cockpit table.
One more picture of the "glitter" Anastasia K. To bad, the picture does not show the amount of glitter in her paint. Next, a yacht with a colourfull history, the 55 meter 1996 Feadship SAMAX, ex Ti.... with her tender Ni... one and Ni... two. First picture shows her under her floating cocon for refit a few days ago. This morning she reappeared out of her cocon
Next set, the 2012, 78 meter, Hempshire II backing into her mooring gap. Well done with precision and adequate speed. One more, the 42 meters, 2013 AB-yacht with tripple 2600 HP MTU and water jets
Today a few new pictures from Porto Portals Moonen Yacht Grace was preparing for a promotion party Last one a Lagoon 620 Sailing Catamaran. That boat has a uge internal volume and large deck space for an 62 ft boat. And for a french boat, the quality is not bad either.
Looking at details of different boats, you will find all kinds of tender garages. Longitudional in the middle of the stern, self launching. Crosswise in the stern with lifting gear. but those two examples I have not seen very often. Asymetrical and offset to one side in the stern. In this case for one Williams Turbojet and one Seadoo (Horizon E 84). Or offset to the right for a single Williams tender as to be seen on this Canados The problem with this type of arrangement, it squeezes the the crew space in the remaining volume of the aft lower hull. What do other members think about this type of tender garage ?
Was stretching my legs with some dock walking today. 1. Tat ii, a 2009, 41 meter Tamsen yacht waiting for the charter season 2017 to begin. 2. Catopardo VI, a 2010, 39,2 meter CBI Navi 3. SAMAX still trying to get rid of her scaffolding. Btw. that plastic material of her cocon filled a complete truck.
IMHO, the bigger boats at Port Adriano are packed pretty tight. I personally would prefer a little bit more elbow room, if I pay that much for a 90 meter slot. But one of my personal highlight are always those classic boats like this 1972, 32 meter Feadship Havenly Daze. She looks really great after her refit. Look up her web site!! A real gentlemans yacht.
1. Today at Porto Portals, the 2009, middle east owned, 60 meter CRN yacht Tacanuyaso.M.S. (what ever that means). 2. A 88 ft Azimut. This particular boat is well liked by local subcontractors and mechanics. Its always giving new jobs. 3. A SanLorenzo 88, owned by a gentleman from Germany. Officially a 24 meter boat but with huge volume. Well kept boat. 4. Lady Kathleen, a Sanlorenzo SD 110, a 34 Meter boat from 2016. Nice boat with really adequate Crewspaces and good living space for 10.
Wow, you got a busy camera Mr. HTM09, but great pictures. That classic 32 m Feadship: Is the upper aft deck original as extended all the way to the stern? Looks like an add-on and a bit out of place. I spent some time in a Mallorca marina years ago, but boats then was half the size. Forgot the name of the marina, but real close to Palma, dry storage as well as docks. A friend lent me his house and car for working on his boat occasionally. Lots of red wine and topless beaches. A good deal, for me anyway. 29 years ago, time flies.
Hello Norseman, for the original condition of the upper deck of Heavenly Daze you might compare old pictures from the Feadship heritage fleet page or just Google. Original Name was Aldebaran. Obviously the coaming on the upper deck was moved aft during the refit at Pendennis to gain more useable deck space on the upper deck. However, the length of the upper deck seems original.
Bulls Eye, Kevin ! Btw. A very nice guy. German but lives in Monaco. "Honni soit qui mal y pense" Sorry, no boat pictures today. My crew and I were called on alert today. The people of Sóller, a little town on the northern coast of Mallorca (on the other side of the Tramuntana Mountains) were under attack by pirates. We went in for mutual support during a crew field trip by buying lots of Whine, beer and good food from them. A Spanish friend of one of my crew even managed to supply most of the our crew with correct costumes. We had a lot of fun. The pirates were pushed back into the sea, albeit they were using pretty big firearms and heavy fireworks. I am still suffering from a little acoustic trauma . Afterwards the local people had a big victory celebration. Pleas note the historic tram, which was used for bringing more supplies (tourists !!) to the nearby harbour. Tomorrow we are relocating the boats back to Palma Harbour (when the boys are sober again). More pictures then of big yachts from the big port.
Today some pictures from Palma Harbour. 1. A well maintained Mangusta 108 2. Lady Anne of Fife, a 30 Meter, 1991 GeTa (Turkey) 3. Cartouche, a 2013, 29 Meter Blue Coast Sailing Catamaran. 4. Reslience (ex My Dream) a 50 meter, 2008/2011 Orto Navi. Pretty nice looking after her last refit
6. Luerssen Yacht Ronin, a still impressive Yacht 7. Irimari, a 63 meter, 2015 Sunrise yacht Note the missing R in her name 8. The 2012, 55 meter Royal Huisman yacht Kamaxitha 9. Perini Navi Yacht Victoria. One of at least 10 PN yachts in Palmar Harbour. 10. Yacht Enigma, 1991/2014 Blohm&Voss with her Turbine exhaust closed. (for sale).
