    Have any of you guy's found some new LED compatible engine room lights? Now that I have spent about half of my boating time in the engine room, I thought it would be a good time to make it a lot brighter down there.
    My '91 46 has 4, 12V 7" X 15" mounts. Thanks in advance. Dave

    Do a search on Bamboo's Donzi work. He found some good ones and other members were involved with some extra thoughts.

    I ended up with a bunch of LED rope light. I have been thinking about running it around my ER.

    I bought some LED strip light fixtures at Home Depot or Lowe's, they're REALLY bright and have no faltered a bit. I think I found them at HD. They were less than $50 each, I routed a few long zip ties under the base before I secured it to the ceiling and then snapped in the bulb section and zip tied it to the base, no issues, no maintenance, no worries.

    I bought light fixtures from Superbrightleds.com works very well, I installed the 30" outboard of the engines and two 18" one above the gen, the other over the batteries. I converted the existing fixtures with 12v bulbs to LED from the same web site.

    Do you have 110v incandescent down there now. If so can't you just change out the bulbs?

    No they are 12V RV bulbs. I am going to try Bamboo's dome lights. My fixtures and lenses are original and need to be replaced. Those dome LED's look like they will mount nicely to the wood mounting plates that exist. If that is not enough light down there then I am going to add some of those tube lights that My Affair posted. Next I think the halogen salon lights have to be upgraded to led as well.......thanks

    A traditional 60 watt household screw in base bulb (A19) puts out 800 lumens to give you an idea how to gauge light output.

    I strung a 5-meter LED "rope" around the front half of our engine room, and just tied it into the existing 12V circuit. It made such a difference, I still have "room" in that circuit for another 5-meter rope around the aft-end, so I'll be doing that next.

    The string of LEDs was a product from superbrightleds.com, and I just shopped for brightest light (lumens and color temperature) plus water resistance (more for protection from humidity than anything else).

    Seems like a great phrase for Egg owners and crew to use. Never thought about it.
    I think it was from some poor joke during a magic act, maybe from Johnny Carson (Carnac).

    Beau you might want to go on Amazon and check 12v LED bulbs. I bought 4 that are equal to a regular 100 watt incandescent bulb and they really light up the engine room. Home Depot had new fixtures which I had replaced right after bought the boat. The difference in the heat on the fixture is less than half what it was with the incandescent 100 watt bulb. They had been in use for about 8 months before I replaced a bulb.

    Thx Tommy. Fortunately I have both a 110 and a 12 volt system in the ER. I haven't changed anything to LED, but next time I lose a bulb I may think about doing that.

    I used a bunch( 10-14)of the aluminum 12v led strip lights thru-out the engine room from superbrightsled.com and actually put an 1" thick clear acrylic floor in between the hatches , it's looks really cool I have the fake teak and Holley flooring thru out the boat and a piece that lays on the acrylic when I don't want to see the engines,I framed the engine hatches and floor opening in polished stainless
