Thanks Chesapeake46, this is very helpful, I will go and check my options! Ok, but I go out at least once a week... 365 days a year sunny weather over here...
365 days of sunny weather ?? You don't need to rub it in, I'm jealous. It snowed here last Saturday !
Hey Guy's, The surge chamber in my exhaust were from the original year of the boat and all rotted out. The replacement parts are fiberglass verses old steel. The old part pictured had a point at the end and the new parts are rounded. Does it matter? Can I go with a standard exhaust surge chamber without the pointed area for the overflow? They run off a 671's I no turbo. Thank you.
Hi, That's a good question. I do not have surge tubes with 671's, Turbo'd. Mine are like a giant offset only.
Rick, I bought my '79 42 with 6-71 naturals in the fall of 2014. As part of the purchase the seller credited me to have the surge tubes replaced in the spring of 2015. Ran the boat for 100 hours over the summer of 2015, no issues. The fiber glass tubes were used with the rounded ends. It appears these are the new standard, and again for the 100 hours there were no issues.
Hi Chesapeake46, there ar 4 types of heat exchangers, could you tell me which one you are using? http://lencocoolers.com/66.htm http://lencocoolers.com/68.htm http://lencocoolers.com/69.htm http://lencocoolers.com/67.htm
After printing it out, I noticed that only the upper hose has a different size and curve, and that's an easy check for me, will do that today!
I want to use them, but need to figure out where to mount them, I prefer them not on the original place, saves me a lot of moving furniture for fluid level check... RT46's config. will be my choice too!
