Clean swim platform

I've had some success with a Magic Eraser for smaller tough spots. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about using them on boats so I have only used them for small, tough stains that nothing else would work to remove.

Read the product information and safety precautions on the bottle than
Glove up and let it soak for a few minutes then scrub. Not much will get by this product, looks like a bit of rust stains also. After you use Roll Off if anything else exists than follow up with some Ospho.

For stuff like that I like Soft Scub with bleach.

If that is a rust stain, use Barkeeper's Friend. Make a wet paste and leave it on for awhile and rinse. It has oxalic acid which will dissolve the rust. Great product and cheap.

Ditto. Soft Scrub has the bleach to whiten the stain and the grit to grind it off if necessary. Cheap and easy! (Not so "green" though!)

If its a painted surface, the rust has already damaged the surface and ultimately the only way to fix that is with new paint. In the meantime to remove the rust stain, any product with phosphoric acid, or oxalic acid will do the trick.

If the surface is gelcoat then you can use an abrasive product and buff out any scratching and re polish the surface.

You have to determine what the stain is. I like whink on rust stains, also found in the same aisle in the grocery stores.

For stubborn stains on non skid, softscrub with bleach has it's place as well...... But I wet the surface and lightly scrub/spread it on, let it sit 5-10 mins, then lightly scrub it around in a circle, but scrub with it as little as possible.

Bird droppings on the front deck was the toughest stain I encountered. For that, I used straight bleach. After a couple of sessions, they disappeared. The previous owner had also put a propane tank on the aft deck that left rust stains. I am slowly but surely getting rid of those with bleach and soft scrub. A little trick I learned with propane bottles is to place them in a square milk crate. They fit perfectly. Not only does it keep the bottle out of direct contact with the fiberglass, it steadies up the bottle.

I have used naval jelly for rust stains. Very effective. The size of your spot may need afew applications.

Why don't you just paint the swim platform with Awlgrip? It's a really easy job to roll and tip it. A little sanding and prep and off you go.

I've had good results with Barkeeper's Friend too.

love the stairs Melissa does a great job! i used y2k i think its called and waited a while and the stuff was almost gone!

For stains rust, red wine, bird droppings etc. I have used CLR straight. Just pour on let sit then scrub with a bristle brush. Works great.

Whink found in a brown bottle in the laundry section of your local grocery store works great on rust stains.
