The Christophe Marina is a new development underway in St. Kitts, Leward Islands, West Indies. The first phase of this 300 acre marina development has started and is expected to finish by 2011.

"The Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Honorable Denzil Llewellyn Douglas and other distinguished members of the community were on hand to commemorate the announcement and express their support for the project. The marina excavation project will be managed by St. Kitts Marine Works, which is owned and operated by Kittitian Regiwell Francis. The $6 million project is expected to take between 14-16 months and provide numerous employment opportunities for other members of the St. Kitts National Association of Heavy Equipment Operators.

“The commencement of the marina marks a significant and positive step forward in the overall development of Christophe Harbour,” said LeGrand Elebash, chief operating officer, Christophe Harbour Development Company, Limited. “Regiwell Francis has an impressive track record for completing large scale projects like the St. Kitts Marine Works Boatyard here on St. Kitts and elsewhere in the region. Given his reputation and local knowledge of this area, we feel extremely confident in awarding this contract to St. Kitts Marine Works.”

The first phase of the Christophe Harbour marina work will achieve a number of development goals related both to the marina itself and other aspects of the community. The primary goal for the project is to excavate the marina to a depth of 20 feet which will then accommodate mega-yachts. The work will also create 42 new harbourfront home sites, of which the initial 9 will be available for sale this April. The project is also designed to refill the area where a number of golf holes will exist. In addition to that, a stockpile of excavated sand will be kept in reserve to renourish the beaches at Ballast Bay and Whitehouse Bay. As phase one of the marina work is complete, St. Kitts Marine Works will then open the channel to Ballast Bay and bring the harbour to the appropriate depths for mega-yachts. In doing this, Christophe Harbour and St. Kitts offers a safe and convenient port-of-call for all mega-yachts when cruising in the Caribbean."

85-foot to 300-foot...if you look at the master plan that I posted you would see where the 300-foot boats would go.

Of course that was in reference to the size range of the yachts to be accommodated and not the individual length of piers/berths.

Will the Marina be open this winter? Looking for somewhere new to try with good protection from the swell.

Not sure how recent this is...but this is from the marina's website. Maybe you should just contact them.

    Christophe Harbour St. Kitts.

We drove by Christophe Harbour two days ago...just glancing at the harbour. Dredging, if you want to call it that, is underway but slowly. Three small (max. 40') moored but I couldn't see any facilities worth mentioning. Don't expect anything resembling a yacht harbour for at least another year. Island time, don't ya know. Also, some local labour disputes and legal wrestling going on with contractors. I'll be taking a closer look later. Cheers, Richard (now on Nevis).

    SKN Marinas and "Rising Sun"

There are three marinas planned for St. Kitts and Nevis...Christophe Harbour being the largest and, to date most advanced. However, dredging and development is extremely slow. From my observations, unless real estate sales and the economy pick up dramatically, five years would be the earliest for planning a mooring in anything over 50 feet/6 foot draft.
For what its worth, MV Rising Sun is anchored about 2 miles across from our location on Nevis, in Majors Bay on the south end of St. Kitts. Cheers, Richard.

MV Rising Sun is lit up like a Christmas tree...quite a sight from our Nevis perch. Unfortunately, its too far for my camera to do its justice. Cheers from Nevis...5 weeks into a 6 week holiday...Richard.

Christophe Marina welcomes its first yacht, looks like a Perini Navi sailing yacht, perhaps Andomeda La Dea?
